For events that are not included in the registration fees, you will not be considered as registered until the payment for the events concerned has been received in full.

6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Opening Ceremony at Bab El Makina

During the opening ceremony in Bab el Makina, the UIA President, Paul NEMO, and the Congress President, Driss CHATER, will declare the 49th Congress open. The Opening Ceremony will be followed by a concert and a typically Moroccan open-air dinner will be served.

8:00 p.m. Informal dinner / Light and sound show

You will attend a Light and sound show covering 12 centuries of the history of Fez, whose past is wreathed in memories and legends. After a 45-minute open-air show, you will be served dinner under tents, with an unrivalled view of the Fez medina.

8:00 p.m. Home hospitality dinner

Fez’ lawyers will invite you to their homes for the evening. This will give you the opportunity to meet Moroccan colleagues and establish personal, informal and cordial contacts with them. To register, kindly fill in the registration form by ticking the corresponding box and indicating the language(s) you speak or understand. Since only a limited number of invitations are available, registrations will be processed on a first-come basis.

The congress closing ceremony, which will take place in the Fez Congress Centre, will summarise the scientific work of the congress and witness the transfer of the post of President from President Paul NEMO to President Elect Delos LUTTON.

8:30 p.m. Closing Dinner at Batha Museum

Dinner will be served on the patio of this magnificent museum, built in the Andalusian style at the end of the 19th century. The museum harbours several exhibits of ceramics and rural pottery from prehistoric times to the 19th and 20th century Fez pottery period. A beautiful Andalusian garden lies between the two wings of the museum.

The cost of this event, including transfers, dinner with drinks and dancing, will be 90 Euros per person.

9:00 a.m.– 4:30 p.m.General Excursion to Meknes and Volubilis

Departure from the congress hotels will be at 9:00 a.m. The bus journey takes 1½ hours to reach the former Roman city of Volubilis, an archaeological show case of Roman remains: battlements, homes of the aristocracy, Roman baths, forum, Caracalla Arch of Triumph, mosaics, and so on.

A short stop is planned in the holy city of Moulay Idriss to admire the panoramic view there, before going on to Meknes for lunch.

The afternoon will be devoted to a tour of Meknes. In 1672, Sultan Moulay Ismail made it his imperial capital. He gave Meknes its most beautiful buildings: the Bab Mansour Gate, the 40-km long defensive wall and the Royal Palace.

The cost of the excursion, including transport by bus, the Meknes and Volubilis tours and lunch, will be 100 Euros per person.
