Reservations for the excursions for accompanying persons will have to be made at the same time as the flight and accommodation reservations are made, or else on the spot, at the latest, 48 hours in advance, while also mentioning the language you want to DESTINATION PLUS. In case of reservations made on the spot, the payments will have to be made in Reals (the local currency). The departure times for the excursions for accompanying persons will be given in the final programme and displayed in the hotels. If the minimum number of participants is not reached, the excursions may be postponed or cancelled. 2nd November is a holiday in Brazil, so as tourist sites will be closed, no excursions will be organised on that day.
While registering, kindly inform Destination Plus of the preferred date and time of the tour you choose (morning or afternoon) in the reservation slip.

The restored “Pelourinho” architectural complex revived the historical area’s former charm and its nightlife is now a major attraction for the city’s youth. Apart from its churches, such as the Carmes Church, the Saint Francis Cloister, the Cathedral and Holy Art Museum, the colourful houses and lanes of the “Pelourinho” are living testimony of the 16th century that was Salvador’s Golden Age. The excursion to the lower or new town offers different perspectives: The famous Bonfim Church, one of Brazil’s most important pilgrimage centres. This church is closely linked to the “Candomblé”. The tour will move on to the Monserrat district, with its panoramic view of the city, and the Mercado de Modelo – a local handicrafts market. That is where you can see how good you are at haggling – negotiating your price and getting it. Full Day in Cachoeira November 1 & 3
A day’s trip to the heart of the hinterland. You will leave civilisation behind you and explore the region’s tropical landscape, finally reaching Cachoeira, the jewel of Bahia State’s hinterland. It’s the land of sugarcane plantations, peaceful colonial cities and crowded markets. It will be a day devoted to the discovery of everyday life in Brazil’s hinterland. This will be followed by lunch and a cultural tour of Danemann, where you will be able to see how cigars are made. Discovering Bahianese cuisine November 3
We will take you to the Sao Joaquim local fruit and vegetable market, where you will discover the various ingredients that go into Bahianese cuisine. Then, you will meet Bahianese in local costume, who sell traditional Bahia dishes: acarajé, abará or vatapá, accompanied by the famous spicy sauce, malagueta, in the Pelourinho district. You will then attend a cooking class in a typical restaurant, and taste the results. Discovering Candomblé November 1 & 3
We will take you to discover a traditional Candomblé house. A number of Bahianese continue to practice Candomblé to this day. Our visit will be devoted to the religious and social tradition of the temple. We will then visit a school where Yoruba (an African language) is taught, along with traditional and spiritual African medicine, the secret of plants as well as classical subjects.
